Permissions

Rewind needs a few Discord permissions to work correctly. Grant them when inviting the bot, or add them to the bot’s role afterwards.

Recommended permissions

Permission	Why it’s needed
View Channels	See the channels where commands are used.
Send Messages	Post now playing embeds and responses.
Embed Links	Display the now playing embed with controls.
Connect	Join your voice channel.
Speak	Stream audio into the voice channel.
Use Voice Activity	Also required to stream audio.
Use Application Commands	Register and respond to slash commands.
Read Message History	Required to view commands.
Set Voice Channel Status	(Optional) If you’d like the bot to set the voice channel status to the currently playing song.
Manage Channels	(Optional) Used to create the music channel.
Manage Messages	(Optional) To delete/cleanup song requests in the music channel.

Music Channel permissions

For the Music Channel feature, Rewind may also need permission to manage messages in that channel so it can keep a single now playing embed.

Tip

If Rewind isn’t responding, check that its role has the permissions above in the specific channel and voice channel you’re using — channel overrides can block an otherwise-permitted bot.
